The Translucent Polycarbonate material on the overhangs reverses the light on the underside.
Normally dark under an overhang, the area brightens when daylight hits it, highlighting the bracket details and creating a reverse effect. 
At night, an invisible LED strip light enhances the bracket detail,  provides general lighting for the decks and walkways, and gives the polycarbonate material a soft glow from afar.
